Guessing he is named after Mufaddal ibn UMAR, a companion of Imam Jafar as-Sadiq.

Since then different dais - including those of Indian descent - have taken over. Here is a brief outline of the Dais and their lineage by porus. (By the way where is porus when we need the most?) http://dawoodi-bohras.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7075&p=94833#p94833 According to this: http...

Re: The True Imam - How would you verify?
Haven't read all posts on this topic other than the first one as there are too many and I presume few that are relevant, but thought I'd share my view very briefly, for those of you who wish to believe an imam is out there. Recognising the rightful imam has been at the heart of Shia mystique for ove...

1. Why do you have contact with reformists? Isn't that not allowed?
2. What's a grade 5 burn?
It sounds like you need the same ointment but for your mouth. Feel better.

Re: y do v all "qaza" our rozas
Danish: Verse 2:187 simply points out to fasting from sunrise to sunset. humble_servant: Time of roza starts with Fajr time and ends at Magrib If we go by the Quran both these statements are incorrect. As Porus stated, the Quran uses the word night (layl), not sunset (maghrib) for when the fast shou...

Re: Question to all Bohras
Sakeena, Good questions. The title of the 'dai' apparently means missionary but the mission appears to be restricted internally. I don't think anybody in their right mind would want to convert to Bohraism in its current form with its current obsession with Syedna. It would stand a better chance once...

Re: Who prepares Moula's bayaans
It is unlikely Syedna prepares his own bayans - most likely his sons do it. Although since he reads them, to all his followers thats the holy grail. Regarding his amazing 'crisp voice' - the voice does not rapidly deteriorate with age. How many old people (non-smokers) do you know who have lost thei...

Alavi Bohras' website has their namaaz & wudhu (tahaarat) in Arabic and English translation and transliteration. See links on the right. It would be broadly similar to the Dawoodi Bohra namaaz.

pardesi,
Literally "day" is correct. However yawm in the Quran is interpreted as multiple earthly days e.g. 22/47 "Verily a Day in the sight of thy Lord is like a thousand years of your reckoning".

Re: Just in time for Eid....How symbolic
Hmm, maybe, according to Bukhari, a few of the 'honorable' companions were standing next to the Prophet and dutifully recording his actions while he was praying on his own. Then when the Prophet was done, they appointed one of their own and formed their own "jamaa" to finish the prayer.

Re: Just in time for Eid....How symbolic
Anajmi, Again you're falling back on questioning intentions. For example, let's see, "Sunnis don't pray separately because are following the Prophet, they do it because they get tired easily and need to take breaks". Or, "Sunnis don't fast because they are following the Prophet, they ...
