Re: American Muslims: second-class citizens?
In an unusual (and some would say un-American) move, prosecutors publicly named 307 individuals and organizations as "unindicted co-conspirators" (UCCs) relating to the HLF case. [/b] Just to set the record straight it is important to note that the "unindicted co-conspirators" c...

Re: The Pillars Of Islam
LONDON (Reuters) - A group of British and U.S. Shi'ite Muslims said on Friday the Saudi religious police they accuse of beating them in the holy city of Mecca should be put on trial abroad. The eight male pilgrims, all of Iraqi descent, said they were beaten and detained overnight on Sunday by the S...

Truth Seeker, Posted by Anajmi: Hazrat Ayesha's age does not concern me. She was married to the prophet and that makes her the mother of the believers according to the quran. Herein lies the answer to your question “Why is the Islamic world behind ?”. They have been raised by a 9 year old and too sc...

A bit of trivia: What is the average life expectancy of a Wahabi in the middle of downtown Iraqi Kurdistan proclaiming "Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction " ? Iraq was heaven before the US invaded, but you applied for an H1-B visa to get into the US. Were the lines to get into Iraq ...

My apologies, the CPS is indeed charged with prosecuting these scumbags. This is an example of political correctness gone awry. These guys will probably get away with using the “taken out of context” BS.

What will replace it? I don't know. Maybe something simpler, less rapacious, less competitive, less aggressive, less wasteful, less self/profit centred and more communal and community based

Humsafar, That response is predictable now; you don’t care to be bothered with specifics, just misrepresenting your opinions as fact. Civilizations did not rise or fall in a vacuum. History has documented or attempted to explain such cycles be it war, famine, innovation, drought, or disease. To extr...

Re: Why is the Islamic world behind
Humsafar,
One can arrive at that conclusion if one vehemently believes in "history repeats itself". It sometimes does, when one does not learn from the lessons history teaches us, but it is a far cry to attribute the law of gravity to history and predict demise of civilizations.

I agree with Humsafar that Wahabis are closest to adhering to the quran, sunnah and ahadith, but I would say that their beliefs are more "static" rather than "authentic". Reason being that they too engage in extrapolation and inference when it comes to interpretation of the Quran...

Yes, only some, predominantly right-wing media and country music radio stations whose fan base was outraged. Your emphasis on the word free is duly noted. Media is free when they agree with you. If they don't, then they are "free". Reminds me of the famous Henry Ford quote "Any custom...

The same can be said of Muslims but its is more drastic. They lap up a pretty healthy dose of non-Muslim bigotry. How many Muslims do you know of in India that invite a Hindu family over for dinner ? Racism against Blacks is prevalent, accepted and open in non-African muslim societies. Middle Easter...
