Suggestions for 2014, for the PDB portal

The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

Here are few things that can be done on this portal:

1. Let's compile literature, religious verses, books and create an archive in downloadble format for everyone to use

2. Compile a sort of wiki for various religious ceremonies, their significance and procedures

3. Maintain a calendar of events and religious days for the year

4. If acceptable by concerned persons maintain a contacts database or form to contact these people who can guide in various religious functions like nikah, sunnat, misaq etc around the World

5. Publish guides for prayers

6. Maintain audio, video libraries of marsiyas

7. Help in translation and transliteration of texts

Thank you for your suggestions. Some of the ideas had been on our to-do list for quite some time. We'll start implementing some of them soon, once we have enough resources.

Improvements in the forum technology will likely carry the greatest weight in terms of impact. The open discussion with moderate DBs such as Zinger, very religious DBs with unflexible positions (such as Adam, murtaza2152 and badrijanab), progressive DBs (S. Insaf) , Qutbi DBs (Qutbi_Londoner) , gay DBs (JC), atheist DBs (Nietschze), sunni former DBs (anajmi), sarcastic DBs (Al Zulfikar), and well connected DBs in terms of information (Gulam Mohamed) is truly wonderful no matter how much each contributor may annoy other contributors because of their specific position. The sheer diversity of DB-specific opinions and positions coming together in one location to discuss the issues is a real contribution to the progressive and non-progressive DB community interested in learning about the broader issues.

It is with pleasure that the recent dispute between succession of 53 has made this site popular...

Admin Bhai can you please give stats by how much traffic has increased since 17 Jan, also new members who signed up.

Interesting that the topics are now completely sucked up, I myself cannot speculate what will happen tomorrow or next week or through the course of the year. I wonder if both sides will run out of steam and topics.

Interesting that some die hard abdes and reformists have not changed alliances which shows words are not enough.
