destruction in ujjain

Unread postby blue on Tue Mar 06, 2012 7:33 am

from yesterday the local administration started demolishing houses and shops of bohras which includes many historical buildings where 52nd 51st and many previous dais had stayed, on famous qamri marg . the purpose of it the municipality says is to smooth the traffic for kumbh mela that is to be held in 2016. thre road is bneing widen 15 meter. qamri marg is the road where the main roza and aamil residence and office is located. anybody who have visited ujjain knows that it is the city full of small lanes. from mela's point of view qamri marg is very insignificant road. andar ki baat is that for many years kothar wanted to develop the ujjain roza on the lines of burhanpur but due to dense population of bohras and also due to the fact that bohras there are not so timid they have not succeded, plan was to have the main gate of roza on the main street and now with the support of govt. they have succeded. bohras here agreed to widen the road but not 15 meter and they did oppose it powerfully but no one from amils or jamaat supported them though from sayedna to amils every body has very cordial relationship with the BJP government at bhopal. the height of complicity is such that before demolishing of houses began , the mayor and the minister paras jain came to roza and had a meeting there. brothers, with tears in my eyes i informed you all that on that road there are many many poor bohras who were small shopkeeper who are now without earning and many bohras whose houses demolished. and it is on these days when taabudaat is celebrated and board exams going on. just a phone call from mumbai to CM shivraj singh chouhan would have averted all this .

Hi Blue
Thanks for posting. Do you have any pictures of this houses, lanes and historical building. Its always fascinating to see how life was many many years ago.
Its very fascinating to see old old pictures of place we see nowdays. With our community context. I wanna know how our previous Dai lived in various cities. I wish we had a collection of pictures of our dai and their wayt of life who lived before.

Has the dai draped a shawl around MP CM also ? Anyways its 'chor ka bhai ghanti chor'.

So much for the tall claims of being the shafiqi bawa of bohras. This bawa is only interested in safeguarding his own assets whether it be in MP or gujarat, all this crap about bribing govts for community's sake is all bullshit.

The dai doesnt use his contacts for his rayyats, it is only for himself and his zaadas.

Bohra homes, shops and livlihood are being razed to the ground and the Muhafiz and Rehnuma of the community is nowhere to be seen. Hey Faustus and Nalwalas, weren't you claiming that Sayedna plays footsie with Modi and Thakray and other criminals for the benefit of the community? What happened now? Did he run out shawls and evelops? My conjecture is that may be the mafia clergy stands to benefit from this demolition and is thus sitting this one out.

Who said he is nowhere to be seen ??? Dont you watch the kothar sponsored websites ? He was everywhere doing IMMENSE "Dawat Ni Khidmat" by way of fattening his purse thru multiple ziafats, mafsusiyats, hadiyats etc etc. See how religiously he is performing his duty as an able dai and rehnuma as per fatimid literature !!!

Now tell me, is there even a need to call Kothar and ask ? Nowhere in the news report, its mentioned about kothar or any bohra is being helped by community. If kothar was helping worth a penny also, this news would have been read differently, it would have been advertising opportunity for kothar to express how much they are reaching to commoners. In past kothar usually does not miss any publicity opportunity through wordly medias.

As these news catches fire and attention, kothar and local jamats will be get involved to become knights in shining armour on the face or to save face. Nevertheless it would be relieving if kothar wishes to mediate in this matter and resolve the issue.

i am from ujjain but have shop in nearby village. is'nt it great that this forum is being reached and read in such remote small towns and villages? just a little more effort is needed to make this site more popular among bohras. we are all mainstream bohras who obey all orders and farmans from jamaat , go regularly to jamaat khanas and discuss the issue raised here , some we agree ,some not ... but it is very important for competent religious authorities to know that nothing should be taken for granted.

That is precisely the point Faustian. Looks like the mafia clergy does not have any "business" interest in Madhya Pradesh, and so having not much at stake it does not feel the need to cultivate and befriend local criminal bosses. As for local mumineen, the message from the Rehnuma and Muhafiz is clear: go fly a kite.

Genius, my point is that your masters would have befriended them long ago if it was in their interest to do so. As for my advice, I think they should, they are comortable in that kind of company (or as AZ would say, chor ka bhai ghanti chor).

this is very sad indeed.

But then, if the kothar is not doing anything, then neither is the reformist community. so no sense in blaming anyone here.

but if we (abdes and reformists) are really concerned, i think we should do something.

Any ideas? can we start a fund? I cant spare much, i have my own home loans and all, but im sure i can shell out a meagre 5000/- rupees.

I know as a community we might be too proud to accept charity, but there must be someone there who is desperate enough to get his livelihood back on track to swallow his pride for a few days...

No need to cry over spill milk. People who are from Ujjain or know the place can vouch that its a very common thing there when buildings are cleared to make way for Sihansth or Kumbh mela held every 12 years. People in the past have also lost their homes and shops but were compensated which will be the case this time also.

Actually, yes i have. Well not exactly the kothaar but the local aamil certainly.

Anyways, if it is something that is a regular phenomena, then it eventually becomes the responsibility of the state. So saying that kothar is not doing anything is unfair.

in last 60 years only two roads , malipura about 6 years ago and mirza naim beg marg some 45 years ago have been widened. these two roads were main roads that connects hindu pilgrimage site. but this road kamri marg has no significance either for kumbh mela or hindu pilgrim site though dargah of 3 dais are situated there. though it was a congested road but there was no need to widen it to 25 meter, people were ready if some portion of their buildings get demolished but here many people have lost their shops and homes completely. as regard to state compensation , yes they promised, but it is very little compared to loss , and will be paid to owners, there were many rented shops and homes there, who will get nothing. alarming fact was that in agitation against road widening only those people participated who were going to loose, there were no co operation from other bohras or jamaat members.

@blue,
The information i provided was relayed to me by a local from Ujjain, it might not be entirely correct.
Please inform why other Bohras didnt come out to help their brethren in distress and how Dargah management will gain from this. How People are coping up with their losses, are their any hands on offer to fall back on.
