What do we see next, young boys and girls provided with Janam Kundli (safai chitti) for match making approved and matched by TNC. What will janam kundli of the prospective grooms express. How much can he bend and kiss (knees and feet). Also to filter out progressive sign of intelligent rebellion from the grooms and brides. And if kundli don’t match, just put aside some nazrul makam and pay a good salaam to ward off evil and voila ! kundlees now matching !! wah wah wah !!

Belief in demons and angels is as per Quran. Angels are mentioned everywhere in Quran. Muhammad was made prophet for humans as well as jinns.

Yes this is already happening. Devout bohras do take raza from the priests for their first marriage night (called - Jaffaf). They do salaam with money and take permission for Jaffaf (Jaffaf ni raza)

Also there is system of seeing the Faaal, i.e. metals cut in shape of hand, human form, house, leaf etc can be leased for a pledged amount from the counter outside kubba in the dargaahs and be placed on the turbat with the minnat in the name of the task or aim to be achieved. (Correct me if I m wrong in my understanding of this process / ritual / superstition whatever one wants to call it.

There are umpteen things said, which basically has no logical base.

Prayer of long life of Sayedna sahib till Qayamat : This line has become an opening speech and closing conclusion for most of the speeches and conversations. Practically its not possible but its repeated with conviction. Better option would be to pray for good health as long as Sayedna saheb lives until death. Prayer for good health makes sense and virtue for well wishing for sayedna sahib.

Purjosh Maatam for long life of Sayedna sahib : Again this ritual practically and even religiously doesn’t make sense. Maatam is an act of grief and pain, how can it be used as a prayer to please Allah to grant long life. Instead a humble prayer in sajda to Allah to grant good health to Sayedna Saheb. That is already done.

All the superstitious relevance attached to days and times : practically one doesn’t follow such timing and days to the “T”. it’s a wishful advise to follow such auspicious time sequence. Just for heart’s content. Unless someone is fanatically into such beliefs and follow it diligently.

Practically what I have seen is, this are easy and convenient way to trick commoners to depend on priestly class to get their insecurities sorted out, as such sorting out requires raza, raza = salaam, salaam mean money. Every superstition can be taken care with some money donation.

Faaal = for money
Raza = for money
Salaam – for money
Ward off Evil = keep Nazrul makam (which cumulatively goes to Kothar)
Sadaqa = Thankfully ! bohra have tiny freedom to give away money to real poor.

So very cleverly, all superstitions is smart creative schemes of garnering funds by innovative methods.

Kothar runs the economy of Bohra faith. It innovates new services to maintain exchange of services for money. Banking on religious emotions and human insecurities. Luckily they have absolute monopoly over the economy where they can exploit the buyer without any redressal mechanism or accountability for quality or quantity of services. Only relief a buyer in bohra economy has, they can bargain a little with lost dignity to reduce the payment.
