The living need Chadars too

The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

The living need Chadars too

"Zindon ko bhi hai chaadar ki zarurat, Khul kar ke yeh mazaaron pe ailaan kiya jai"....Qateel Shifai.
Salaam Alaikum,I have put the above lines by Qateel Shifai, to let you know just that.
Please friends,The next time you go to pay respects to a grave, then there is something else that you can offer besides a flower chaadar or gilaaf. You can do a sadaqa of the same amount and give the sawaab to the deceased. This way you will ensure that a poor person will be able to eat something .
I also do this.It so happened that I was going to the roza and my wife asked me to buy two flower Chaadars (RS 20 total) and place it on her grandparents grave. On the way I spotted an old muslim couple begging, and they were both blind.
At that moment on impulse .I gave them the RS 20 as sadaqa and asked Allah to give the sawaab to the deceased Grand parents in law. This way we are all happy! The deceased souls will be more happier this way.
I hope this will perhaps make atleast one reader to do the same.

A noble thought indeed and should be replicated by one and all, we have a habit of offering chadars and putting money in golaks, these can be used in the way "Bohraji" has mentioned.
Instead of blame games if we all specially people who are in mainstream start helping downtrodden on our own then we can revive the philanthropic views and deeds of our forefathers which has been lost on our generation. I have omitted Progressives in my appeal as they are generally doing their part more diligently.

Bohraji, count me in too.

Bohraji, these are things we learnt in school in moral science, but as we grew up, material illusions and moh-maaya have distracted us.

I thank you for the bottom of my heart for making me realise where i have been going wrong for so long.

I hope i get the chance to meet you some day.

Assuming you are not from Bombay, the next time that you come here, do look me up. I will PM you my details
