1. how does one know who is an extremist? how do i know who is an open reformist and who is still part of the main jamaats but reformist at heart? how do i know who is a sunni, who is not a bohra or whatever?mutmaeen wrote:bro az
its true that the extremist fringe which mocks at the shia way of islam and the traditions of bohras may not be a part of reformists but how does one know? and if they arent reformists then they are doing a great disservice to the genuine cause of the reformists.the least that the reformists can do is disapprove such posts each time they pop up
simple. use yr common sense and your judgement. no one here signs under his name what his beliefs are, and neither does this site require it. the problem with most fanatic orthos is they come here with pre-conceived notions, with a militant attitude which has been drummed into their heads, to violently hate anyone who dares to call himself a 'progressive'. so the moment they come here, they automatically assume that everyone who posts here is a 'reformist'. you also post here, so does that make you a 'genuine' reformist, willing to approach anything with an open mind, against 'blind' faith?
2. reformists should disapprove objectionable posts. yes they do, you just saw that. thats the beauty of this site, the freedom to OBJECT and to CORRECT mistakes. we also object to the vulgar and abusive language used by the fanatic orthos, but again why does the site allow such people to even come here? because this is a forum which provides you the freedom to express your opinions freely unlike our jamaats or the sycophantic ortho sites like maalumat, zeninfo etc.
