As suggested by level_headed, I did a search google search on "Hamza lion hunter". Below is the first page of the links that I got (a total of 3 pages). Need I say that they were all useless? Not one of them told me about the hunting practices of Hamza!!

The only reference in this link to his hunting is in this paragraph.
Hamza converted to Islam due after some actions of Amr ibn Hishām, (also known as Abū Jahl أبو جهل) known for his hostility against the Muslims. Hamza, Muhammad's uncle, had returned to the city of Mecca after a hunting trip in the desert. Upon returning, he soon learned that Abu Jahl (an avowed enemy of Islam) had heaped abuse and insults upon Muhammad, who had not responded and walked away from where he had sat in the Haram. Outraged, Hamza dashed to the Kaaba, where Abu Jahl sat with other leaders of Mecca, and began to beat him with his bow while shouting "Are you going to insult him now, now that I am of his religion and vouch for what he vouches for? Hit me if you can!" As the companions of Abu Jahl approached Hamza in an attempt to assault him,[2] Abu Jahl feebily cried out from the ground "Leave Abu Umarah, for indeed I insulted his nephew deeply." And he cowered at the feet of Hamza, while his friends could not meet Hamza's eyes. As he departed, he kicked sand back at the men, leaving all shocked at what Hamza had just said, none more so than Hamza himself.[8] After that incident, Hamza declared Islam, and made a covenant to help Muhammad and to die in the cause of Islam.[2]
It is pretty clear that this hunting trip that is being mentioned over here is before Hamza accepted Islam and became a staunch supporter of the prophet (saw).

was it necessary. as far as i know that even saudi arabia government condemned and outlawed that fatwa.

I have already accepted that he had returned from a hunting expedition before the incident which led him to hammer Abu Jahl and declare his Islam. Read my post above. You have just shown me that Hamza was hunting lions before he accepted Islam.

I have said this before, but it seems to be falling on deaf ears. It doesn't matter what Hamza did. What is the command of the prophet (saw)? He has cursed those who hunt animals for pleasure. It is difficult to believe that after accepting Islam Hamza would've had the time to continue the practice of hunting when muslims were being prosecuted all around. It is also difficult, nay impossible, to accept that Hamza would go against the command of the prophet (saw), unlike your Dai!!

in our aqida our shafiq bawa TUS does not commit any thing wrong if he is killing wild animal there has to be a muslehat which you may not understand if all these wild animals are allowed to roam free then they kill in innocent people, few years ago in national park in mumbai some tigers did kill small children and in other villages wild elephant killed the villagers so killing a wild animal can not be a crime but should be a blessing
and who would not want to give their life for our moula's khushi, we the mumineen are ready to give our jaan and maal to our moula and wild animals giving their life for the khushi of moula TUS should not be any different, they have more love of our moula TUS then your progressive opposition

Sorry to see this thread get sidetracked.
My question to young bohris is - when you see your fathers and grandfathers bend over, hands clasped together, handing over fat envelopes (not to mention dignity and self respect) of hard earned cash to the so called self proclaimed royals - how does it make you feel? Do you not cringe or at least resent it?
We (the progressives) have a strong sense of identity as bohris, living in the east and west - have preserved religion, religious observations, customs, traditions, family and friend networks but not at the expense of our self respect and hard earned money. Yes.. there is an alternative! Identity does not have to be portrayed through external means (dadhi, topi, rida) only - arguably that is only skin deep - the real identity is the comfort in accepting who you are inside your heart and making connections with your fellow community members regardless of outward appearances.

Human beings kill more innocent people then wild animals plus wild animals only act in defence or when hungry (that too when their habitat is encroached upon)... Now by your token, Dai should go out and start hunting human beings so there wouldn't be any human atrocities on other fellow human. Let Dai start with Taliban, LeT, Mafia...now that would be a real blessing for mankind.
