Would anyone care to comment why Bohras pronounce 94:7 as “fa idha faraghta fansIb” instead of “fa idha faraghta fansAb”?

They have changed fatha (zabar) over Saad to kasra (zer).

The answer to that question is the same as what Rasullahh(SAW) gave to Omar when he said to Rasuallah(SAW) that Hazrat Bilal (AS) as not the right person to recite Azan because his pronunciation was different from ours.

By Changing from fansIb to fansAb , does it change meaning?

According to Hans Wehr dictionary, the imperfect vowel of ‘nasaba’ is damma (u). Accordingly, imperative should be ‘unsub’. Initial u is elided when prefixed by ‘fa’. Hence it should really be ‘fansub’.

According to John Penrice Dictionary, two words exist with slightly different meanings:

1. ‘nasaba’(imperfect vowel u). The meaning of this word is “to erect” or “to fix”. Therefore, this would be pronounced ‘fansub’ as well.

2. ‘nasiba’ (imperfect vowel a). The meaning of this word is “to make an effort” or “to strive”. Therefore this would be pronounced ‘fansab’.

Since the Quran uses ‘fansab’, it must mean “So, make an effort”, in the sense of the second meaning according to John Penrice dictionary.

I have not been able to find any justification for “fansib” so far. Hence my question as to why Bohras use it.

Amirul Mumineen, Ali ibn Abi Talib, said that not one letter, not one zabar, not one zer is in the Quran except by Allah’s command. He also said that there is nothing greater in this world than the Quran except Allah. (La shay akbar min al-Quran doon Allah).

Quran itself commands how it is to be recited in measured tones, with tajweed. To deliberately mispronounce Quran is to insult Allah. Hence, if we pronounce it in a way different from the way it is written, there ought to be a good reason for it.
