Targeted?: Bohra man shot dead near Hyderi

The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

Let us have this crime in perspective.

Do you know that dozens if not hundreds of bohris have been murdered and killed in broad day light in East Africa .

To throw the dummy bohras amils or committee do not have any mitigating programs like ithnaasheri or khojas have. All we get is maula ni dua Che, and rida ane topi tamari hifazat karse.

I myself have had 2 family members targeted and killed, I personally have survived a stabbing , gunshotS , , I know 4 other bohra acquaintances men and women one a pdb who have lost there lives or seriously injured to crime so this is not news where I was brought up.

Pakistan is one of the most dangerous countries to live in , it is banded with Somalia , Nigeria for corruption and crime.

Its about time Kothar realizes the need of safety for Bhoras. Burhanuddin Sahab came up with matam on all occasions, dress code and gathering people many times every week. Ordinary people of Pakistan dont like and approve of such behavior when the economy is in shambles. Every day feast has to stop. So now we have a new Dai , who not only keeps the old system going but adds more to it with dabba system. We are becoming a bigger target ,mind you an easy target. If we keep going at this rate, this Moharram could be very dangerous for the Bohras.

Dont count on Dai or kothar to come to your aid. They are the first ones to run away. Moula ni dua did not help anyone in Haidary, it has not worked on himself. I have seen many a man die, but not seen one suffer this much. Cheapest gift moula dispenses is dua, pani, phook, shehad and atto. It does not keep anyone safe.

Brothers , learn and carry a piece. Its a great equalizer. Your enemy knows of compulsory waiz attendance. They know when to strike.

Inna Illahe Wa Illahe Rajeoon.

Now, can you guys stop bitching like a bunch of old spinsters and show some respect for the dead?

Agreed, all the celebrations are bringing us in the eye of extremists, but not everything can be attributed to this.

It might be because of other reasons too.

BS, very, very sorry to hear about the tradegies. But the crimes perpetrated against you are not because you are Dawoodi Bohra Muslims but because you are rich, in a land of poor.

Seeker, good suggestion, but kind of dangerous dont you think!

KARACHI:
For 40-year-old toy shop owner Ali Akbar it was a normal weekend. Close the shop, go home, relax a bit and probably go out for dinner later.
But he had to attend a wedding function on Saturday. So he shut down his shop, went across the road to his apartment and got ready to leave for the wedding reception of a relative.
But fate had other plans for him.
In the Dawoodi Bohra-dominated Hyderi neighbourhood, Akbar and his wife had just left their home when he was shot dead only a few steps away from his residence. Some say the father of two was killed by bandits, some say by extortionists, for some he fell victim to sectarianism but the nature and motive of his murder have yet to be ascertained due to the differing accounts.
Last month, twin bombings took place in the same Hyderi area but Akbar’s family insist that his death was only an unfortunate mishap. He had not ever been threatened in his life, they said, nor was he enemies with anyone.
The only witness, Akbar’s wife, has told the family that her husband was not targeted. “[Akbar’s] wife said that she saw no one nearby fire a gun. It was just that Akbar suddenly fell and there was a bullet wound in his head. He died on the spot,” Hunaid, one of his closest friends, told The Express Tribune. “Apparently, he was killed by a stray bullet.”
According to a neighbouring shopkeeper, however, Akbar had been worried since Ramazan as extortionists were demanding money from him. A political party had even provided him its activists as security.
The family is concerned about the security of other community members and that is why it is unwilling to share the details, shopkeepers said. “The party had withdrawn its workers only a few days ago.”
The family has not registered a case which is why the police will not be able to properly investigate, said DSP Rasheed Khan. “Akbar left the shop, crossed the road, went upstairs to his flat, then came out again and left with his wife on a motorcycle,” he said. “He was definitely being followed.” The police have to figure out if he was killed for a sectarian motive or extortion or a personal enmity, DSP Khan added.
Hyderi and the surrounding markets were closed in protest over the killing. They called it a target killing and shopkeepers demanded arrests.
“I didn’t see it but I’ve heard that two young men were seen running away from the scene,” said a shopkeeper, Shaukat Ali. “Extortion threats are becoming common day by day in our market. It wasn’t like that before.”
Taha Akbar, a Dawoodi Bohra community elder, believes that no one is safe in Karachi. However, the police should properly investigate the case, he added.

Simple commercial logic, why waste time, in the middle of this terror people will grieve and fear. Disrupt ziafats, raise questions from abdes that they are shock so cannot fulfill fanfare excuses excuses

if he went elsewhere the gravy train can continue and Pakistan sorry we will continue next time with accepting your ziafats when your city comes up in the queue again, the show must continue , if a few days are lost we can convert a few holidays in Saudi Arabia or squeeze in a few more ziafats per year to meet our revivables targets.

If we are vyapri comm the master is the master vyapari...this is one area Mansoos deserves absolute 100% marks the imam could not have chosen a better salesman candidate!

my heart goes out to berieved family and his widow, now his brother is only bread earner. Haidri jamat is a shameless entity, its amil or functionaries did not do any thing to condole or console his death. jamat is shameless, selfish and corrupt entity bereft of compassion and kindness. jamat did nothing for the ones who died in bomb blast, and will do nothing for this incident.
Muffadal bhai saheb was in karachi when bomb blast happened, though he left, but couldnt some one on his behalf go and help the families. all these amils would lick the foot of shahzadas and their sons, but they forget to serve the ones, who are paying for grand life style, they forget that these poor, helpless people are sucked out of last blood drop to feed their insatiable desire.
all this pomp and show, all this talk of religion and god and salvation and hollow rhetorics are worthless, if there is no humanity. and it is hollow rhetorics, whatever is said has no meaning.
i would say, if any one wants to help these families, they can do so by approaching individual family. our shameless jamat, amils and central administration will do nothing for these people.

not only haideri, but it is everywhere. I have even witnessed it when I went for Haj too. Now you know what this bohri cult is. Run away from it and if you want to fight for what is right "May Allah give you strength"All their rules are for self glorification for the zadas, amils their children, grandchildren and it all starts from the top. absoloutly nothing to do with human feelings. Do not question anything. Just pay money and watch how your money is blown away by them.
